Adel Dabo's Photos - WOMEX Oktober 31, 2010
OCTOBER 27-31 IN COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

It’s an all-day, all-night dance and listening party, where old hands and grand dames shared space with wild newcomers. It’s a business platform where people from remote villages and well-heeled megalopolises met and discuss how to sustain musical diversity. It’s the best place to launch a successful career, whether you’re a striking traditional singer from Afghanistan or the best rock guitarist in Zanzibar.

It’s WOMEX, the world’s premier world music expo and music event held (October 27-31, 2010 in Copenhagen, Denmark). This year, in addition to hearing sounds from across the planet, participants did get a chance to build new approaches to “world music,” a term coined at the end of the eighties in the UK to help market music from outside the Western world, now about creating musical infrastructure to support artists and audiences everywhere.

Nani insists that he wants to be the best player in the world.

Manchester United winger Nani insists that he wants to be the best player in the world.
The 23-year-old had been seen as an under-par performer about 12 months ago, but he has since picked up
his game to become a mainstay in the Red Devils' quest for silverware.

The former Sporting Lisbon man's vast improvement has only been exemplified by Antonio Valencia's long-term injury.
And despite currently nursing a groin injury - and ruled out of the weekend clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers - Nani hopes to be counted among the best players in the world, despite his recent claims that he has already set his foot firmly on that pedestal.

"I want to be one of the best players," he told reporters.
"In the future, I want everyone to be saying Nani is one of the best players in the world. That is my ambition.

"Maybe some people are saying it now. If they are I am very happy.
"I have been working hard to be in this position. But I know I can also do much better and will keep going every day to get there."
And being a vital ingredient in Sir Alex Ferguson's recipe for success, the Portugal international insists that he welcomes the responsibility that goes with it.
"I enjoy the pressure of being an important member of the side," he said.

"When you have the ambition to be a top player you have to like the pressure as well.
"I am happy to take on that responsibility and am enjoying my football at the moment."
He added: "Since I came to Manchester I always said I believed in my qualities and my capabilities.

"Eventually I got my opportunities. I am more mature now and more experienced in the team. I am doing well now but I always felt I would get to this position.
"I always knew I could play well and be an important member of the team."

Nani believes we are beginning to see the best of United.

The Portuguese winger says the team ethic was very much in evidence in Turkey, where the Reds registered a fifth consecutive win in all competitions and reached the brink of the Champions League's last 16.
“It was beautiful to see the team play some fantastic football, all the players showed a lot of quality," said Nani, following the 3-0 win over Bursaspor.

“We showed we are a team and we all played very well. I am so happy when we have a team like this, you can enjoy it.
Nani added: “Our performances for the last couple of games have been all together. We have been [playing together as] a team and that is why we have won important games.

"I think you are starting to see the real Manchester United now. We are very confident at the moment. We want to win the next games and try and catch Chelsea."

Whether Nani can take part in the next game remains to be seen, given that he only played for 28 minutes against Bursaspor before pulling up with a groin injury. The player topping the Barclays Premier League's assists chart is understandably keen to avoid an untimely absence and maintain his impressive start to 2010/11.

“It was a bit of a pain in the groin, I’m hoping to be fit for Saturday (against Wolves) but we’ll see how it is over the next day or so. I am doing well at the moment and I enjoy the pressure of being an important member of the team," said Nani.
Wenger blames complacency as Arsenal lose to Shakhtar
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger cited his side's complacency for a 2-1 defeat by Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League Group H tie.
The win moved Shakhtar level on nine points with group leaders Arsenal and both sides need to win one of their two games left to reach the last 16.

"We had a good start, but after that we lost our urgency," said Wenger.
"It was more of a team problem, a kind of complacency problem more than an individual problem."
Theo Walcott had given Arsenal the lead before a Dmytro Chygrynskiy header was diverted into his own net by Gunners midfielder Craig Eastmond.

Eduardo, who left Arsenal last summer to join Shakhtar, then got the Ukrainian side's winner when he shot past keeper Lukasz Fabianski

IMF Calls Tanzania Economic Prospects Promising

According to the recently released International Monetary Fund (IMF) Economic Outlook for sub-Saharan Africa, Tanzania economic prospects are promising.

John Wakeman-Linn, the IMF Senior Resident Representative indicated at the launch of the report that the GDP (economic) growth and declining rates of inflation substantiate country’s rising economic prospects.Mr. Wakeman-Linn went on to congratulate both the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) and the Tanzania government for their practical monetary and fiscal policies, saying that these policies have helped to strengthen the country against the significant blows that have resulted from the global economic crisis.

“Almost all Tanzania's macroeconomic indicators - exports, private credit growth and reserve levels are favorable,” said Mr. Wakeman-Linn.
