With 12 Tanzanian Designers Showcasing last year, including Those from Zanzibar and Mwanza, This year More designers are to be featured from all over Tanzania and neighbouring Swahili speaking countries. 

The preparations are underway this year, to create a Three Day of Fashion Galore, Gallantry. Glitz and Glamor of what best East Africa has to offer. 

The participation is not limited to Fashion designers only, but is open to Accessory, jewellery, handbags and Shoe Designer also. Swahili Fashion Week is open to all designers. Both emerging and established, from Swahili Speaking countries. 

To be invited to Showcase at this Annual Event, the requirements are : 
- A brief Updated (as of 30 June 2009) Profile / Biography 
- Minimum three Images of your work which best portray your Creativity. 
- Why you should be invited to showcase at the Swahili Fashion Week 2009?

Swahili Fashion week is the dawn of a new era, initiating a dynamic and promising platform for the fashion industry in Tanzania , The Swahili Fashion Week is geared towards being the most sought out after Fashion platform, in Eastern Africa for the International market. 

Swahili Fashion week is a platform for designers, both fashion and accessory, from Swahili speaking countries to showcase their creativity, market their art and networking with clients all aimed at Promoting Fashion as an income generating, Job creating industry emphasizing the “Made in Tanzania” patriotism. 

The successful Inaugural Swahili Fashion Week 2008 took place on 5 & 6 of November 2008 in Dar es Salaam under the meticulous choreography and direction of Jan Malan Umzingeli (http://www.janmalan.com) from South Africa . 

Not only did it showcase Tanzanian Designer and Models but also the Finalist of M’Net Face of Africa 2008.
