Wyclef Jean Vows To Fight For Presidency Bid

Wyclef Jean says he will continue to fight to stand in Haiti's presidential election despite receiving death threats.

Speaking from a hideout in his hometown of Lassere, the hip-hop star said he had moved to a place where he felt "secure" and "comfortable" after receiving phone calls threatening to kill him unless he left Haiti.

"We know that the situation that we have embarked on, you know, death threats comes with the territory," he said.
Haiti's provisional electoral council had been due to finalise the list of candidates on Tuesday but has postponed it until Friday
Jean said he and his legal team had made sure all the requirements had been met.

"Every piece of paper that the electoral council have asked for, we have delivered - everything.
"So this delay of announcing the candidacy is not on our part because we have given everything possible."
