Man City 1 - 0 Bolton

An early strike by Carlos Tevez ended Manchester City's two-month wait for a home Premier League goal and proved enough to see off a dogged Bolton side.

Tevez ran on to Yaya Toure's pass to fire home after four minutes. City went on to dominate, going closest to a second when Mario Balotelli and then David Silva hit the woodwork. But Bolton were given late hope when Aleksandar Kolarov was sent off for a second booking, and the home side had to survive a late spell of pressure.

For City to be hanging on at the end of a game they had controlled was a strange sight but as Roberto Mancini approaches the end of his first year as their manager he will know that nothing is straightforward at Eastlands.

A lack of cutting edge has undermined his side's challenge at the top of the table in recent weeks, so it must have been a huge relief for him when Tevez opened the scoring.
